Melanie co-ordinates the RSPB’s climate change mitigation and energy policy work and leads the delivery of the RSPB’s 2050 Energy Vision. Her work currently focuses on the industrial strategy and clean growth plan alongside a new project working with progressive energy companies to demonstrate delivery of carbon abatement and biodiversity enhancement. She previously led the RSPB’s policy work on biofuels and bioenergy, aviation and high speed rail within the UK and at EU level. In parallel, she co-ordinated international NGOs working on the land use and forestry talks in the UNFCCC climate negotiations in the run up to the conclusion of this strand of talks in Durban 2011. Before moving into climate policy, Melanie worked on conservation communications for the RSPB and also advising the Egyptian Government on biodiversity communications, based in Cairo. Outside work, she has also been a trustee of Studentforce for Sustainability (now Change Agents UK) and Hitchin Community Garden.
