Charles is a Sustainability and CSR practitioner with over ten years’ experience supporting organisations across a range of sectors improving their social, environmental, and reputational performance.

Charles started his career as an environmental consultant in Scotland, providing advice and support to public and private sector clients. He progressed to in-house corporate roles, first with the University of Portsmouth, followed by the National Health Service on the Isle of Wight, delivering award-winning sustainability initiatives and programmes.

Charles joined the Bank of England in 2016, to support the Bank’s commitment and approach to corporate responsibility. Charles is passionate about environmental issues and developed the Bank’s corporate environmental programme, ‘Greener Bank’, which has grown into a cornerstone of the Bank’s broad CSR efforts. Charles is driven by a desire to deliver cultural change which embeds CSR at the core of the business, increases employee engagement, and creates meaningful positive impacts.
