Ian Byrne is Deputy Chief Executive of the National Energy Foundation with an extensive knowledge of energy use in buildings. A chartered accountant and chartered environmentalist, he brings an analytical approach to assessing sustainable energy projects and rigour to calculating energy and carbon savings. Ian is convenor of the International Standards Organization working group about to publish ISO17747 on determining energy savings in organizations. Over his 26 year career with NEF, Ian has managed numerous projects focusing on saving energy in the public sector, households and SMEs, as well as contributing to the wider policy debate around the energy trilemma.
