Sam Hunt is a chartered engineer with more than 12 years’ experience in energy consultancy and has led the provision of energy reduction support to FTSE 100 companies and major public sector bodies.
Sam has worked for SMS Plc for three and a half years in its Energy Efficiency team. His current position is as Energy Manager for an estate of 15 office buildings, providing energy and water monitoring/targeting, BMS monitoring and optimisation, design advice for HVAC projects, and oversight of an ISO 50001 certified energy management system (EnMS). Sam’s work for SMS Plc has also included ESOS assessments, audits of data centres, and management of a team providing energy and environmental management services.
Elsewhere during his career, Sam has acted as the primary Low Carbon Design Adviser for a major UK supermarket, while other roles have covered the following areas: due diligence on energy efficiency and renewable energy projects; dynamic thermal modelling of new buildings to investigate overheating and to assess Part L compliance; BREEAM advice and assessments; and delivering lectures and developing good practice guidance.
Sam’s work on energy management in buildings comprises the office, data centre, retail, education and residential sectors.
