Co-create solutions to key energy and sustainability challenges in our Mission Possible Workshops

These new Workshops will provide you with a unique opportunity to collaborate with your peers to solve the key challenges and opportunities you are facing in your mission to achieve a sustainable future. Starting with a blank sheet of paper, we will discuss the issues that we face, share 'war stories' and work together to create a unique solution to the topic.

Only 10 spaces available per table. Pre-booking is essential so reserve your place by filling out the form below.

There will be 8 individual workshop topics which will be covered on each day day of edie Live:

These hour-long Workshops take a roundtable format, with a facilitator and a guest expert at each table. (Two sessions will run concurrently at any one given time across both days of edie Live.)

Please note space is limited to 10 participants per workshop. The workshops are designed specifically for those leading their company’s sustainability strategy and those responsible for implementing it. If you are interested in attending, please complete the Workshop reservation form below.

The edie editorial team will turn the results of the workshops into pieces of content which we will share with all participants after the event, along with notes on the key discussion points.

Workshop Stream 1
  1. Workshop Stream 1
Big energy data is here to stay. From heating and cooling through to telephones and lifts, the data an organisation can collect from its energy consumption can be incredibly powerful – but only if its monitored, measured and acted upon correctly.

This workshop will see participants collaborate to develop their own ‘top tips’ guide to managing big energy data and will explore some of the practical steps that can be taken to generate energy and cost savings through effective data management.
  2. Workshop Stream 1
It’s one of the most talked-about topics in the world of energy management, but is energy storage ready to move from ‘innovation’ to mainstream technology? What are the barriers to mass deployment of battery systems? And how can an energy manager convince others in their organisation of the values of the technology?

This workshop will see participants co-create a list of the five key steps that must be taken by business and the Government to unlock the value of energy storage in the UK.
  3. Workshop Stream 1
It’s the most hotly debated sustainability topic of the moment: plastics pollution. The material represents a major circular economy conundrum for business across the world – so, what are the solutions? And what must happen to allow those solutions to be scaled-up, today?

This workshop will see participants identify their top five solutions to the global plastics problem, and will discuss some of the practical steps that can be taken by manufacturers and retailers to switch to more sustainable materials, minimise packaging volumes and achieve a circular economy.
  4. Workshop Stream 1
It is perhaps the biggest challenge facing sustainability professionals today: how can they increase their sphere of influence and drive engagement on sustainability – from the boardroom to the people on the shop floor?

This workshop will see participants collaborate to draw up their own ‘behaviour change cheat sheet’, breaking down the key steps that sustainability professionals can take to drive engagement and change behaviours.
Workshop Stream 2
  1. Workshop Stream 2
Close to 10,000 organisations around the world have now pledged in some way to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, but more than a third of those companies still haven’t set measurable targets against achieving the goals. So, how can we bridge the gap between ambition and ACTION?

This workshop will see participants collaborate to devise an action plan for organisations to deliver on the SDGs and will discuss the practical steps that can be taken by sustainability professionals to embed the SDGs within their organisation’s business strategy.
  2. Workshop Stream 2
At present, the war is not being won: total waste generation in the UK – including waste from local commercial sources – continues to mount, and recycling rates are not increasing fast enough. Clearly, better transport, infrastructure and innovative ways of dealing with waste are needed to tackle the waste problem in the supply chain.

This workshop will see participants come up with 10 practical steps that can be taken by sustainability and resource efficiency professionals to win the war on waste in the supply chain, with a particular focus on the retail and manufacturing sectors.
  3. Workshop Stream 2
Collaboration has been a sustainability buzzword for several years now, yet thousands of companies large and small still take a siloed approach to sustainability – why? What are the barriers that must be broken down to drive more collaboration on sustainability and CSR projects? And what examples are there of mutually beneficial, cross-sector partnerships that are driving sustainable change?

This workshop will see participants come up with 10 practical steps that can be taken by energy, sustainability and resource efficiency professionals to foster new collaborations and forge new partnerships to drive sustainable business.
  4. Workshop Stream 2
Whether it’s demand response, battery storage or distributed generation, business now have access to multiple energy solutions that can bring significant operational, financial and environmental rewards. But are these solutions currently viable? What are the major obstacles preventing organisations from adopting smart-grid technologies; and how can those obstacles be overcome?

This workshop will see participants co-create the flexible energy system of the future and discuss the practical steps that can be taken achieve that flexible future, today.
